Helm and Associates, Inc., is  dedicated to the proper use of tests to make the hiring, placement,  and promotion process fair and objective. It is our belief that both organizations  and their employees  benefit most when there is a good match between the job  and the person who fills it. 

Kurt G. Helm, Ph.D. is founder and  president of Helm and Associates, Inc.  He is a licensed and certified  psychologist who has been working with private  businesses, industries, and  public agencies since 1975. Dr. Helm first became  interested in why people do  the things they do during his service in the United  States Marine Corps. He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from East Carolina University, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology  from Texas Christian  University in Fort Worth, Texas. He has been developing,  validating, and marketing employment tests since 1979.

Barbara J. Otto, M.S.L.S., M.P.A. is vice-president and  director of technical services and support for Helm and Associates, Inc. She  designs and manages  scoring procedures and customer service for tests, and  conducts validation studies  and concurrent statistical analyses of test data.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree  from Indiana University, a Master of Library  Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of  Public Administration from Southern Methodist University. She has been affiliated with Helm and Associates, Inc., since 1981.
